Central Research Unit (UCR)
About:
The IDIAPJGol Central Unit is in charge of the following services:
Methodological Support Unit. They provide specialised support to the USR and research groups. The main areas of support are:
- Statistics: It consists of several statisticians who support various research projects at IDIAPJGol and take part in training courses involving statistical methods. They also collaborate with the other statisticians and mathematicians at IDIAPJGol (totaling 17) located in the different USRs.
- Qualitative Research: It is composed of specialists in mixed methods and qualitative studies. The mission of this unit is to promote research in mixed methods and qualitative studies while supporting researchers. They provide tools, resources, and techniques to enhance the skills of professionals interested in conducting qualitative research. Additionally, they introduce the theoretical and practical approaches used in qualitative research applied to health sciences. For this purpose, they authored the manual "Listening, Observing, and Understanding Narrative in Health Sciences. Contributions from Qualitative Research" (Barcelona: Jordi Gol Primary Care Research Institute (IDIAP J.GOL), 2014 https://www.idiapjgol.org/index.php/en/research-advice/qualitative-research
- Responsibility Research & Innovation Unit (RR&I),) assesses research on how to engage society in science and innovation "high up" in RR&I processes to align their outcomes with societal values. Additionally, there is a broad umbrella connecting different aspects of the relationship between research and society: public engagement, open access, gender equality, scientific education, ethics, and governance.
- Economic Evaluation aims to identify the value obtained from the resources used to implement a policy, program, or intervention in primary health care. This unit helps determine the effectiveness of resource utilization and explores better ways to utilize these resources.
Support for the strategic aspects of IDIAPJGol
Assisting the organization in establishing or overseeing strategic matters of the institution, such as those related to the strategic plan, equity plan, Human Resources Strategy for Researchers (HRS4R), and others.
Developing excellent research within the context of primary health care:
Researchers in this unit participate in a health services research group (GRenSSAP), enabling involvement and leadership within the redIAPP network in 2003. They also contribute to certain innovations within SIDIAP and real-world data with a focus on cancer, providing real-word evidence that facilitates the development of SIDIAP. Additionally, they engage in other qualitative research projects and those strategically commissioned by the Department of Health or ICS.
