Nine cutting-edge projects during the III Innovation Conference

On October 31, the IDIAPJGol promoted a day to address the challenges for the transformation of the health system. The event brought together representatives from all Research Support Units, as well as from ICS, Biocat, and specialized companies such as Ingecal.

During the event, Ana Fernández from Ingecal, explained the current regulation regarding medical devices. Her presentation aimed to resolve practical doubts about the steps to follow when designing and patenting a new device. For his part, David Verde, head of the IDIAPJGol Innovation Agency, presented the Real World Lab. This service represents a commitment by the institute to provide a system to qualitatively and quantitatively validate solutions in a real environment. Furthermore, the fact that it is in Primary Care makes it more powerful since it is the first step to the health system and where most of the diseases with the greatest impact, such as chronic diseases, are treated.

Afterwards, the three innovation domains of IDIAPJGol were presented : healthcare processes, digital health and medical technologies. For each of them, attendees had the opportunity to learn about three projects promoted by researchers from the Institute or in collaboration with the Innovation Agency, including Hefestos, EPIBAS, WthsWrng, Tobbstop, AFAI, Odisea, MNENE, Nystavert, and Artificial Intelligence in chest plate readings.

Núria Martí, Director of Innovation and Business Development at Biocat, then explained the characteristics that make the Catalonia Bioregion an excellent hub for innovation and research. She also detailed the various programs and services available for researchers.

Finally, the day was closed by Robert Fabregat, director of Biocat, and Josep Basora, director of IDIAPJGol, who agreed to join forces to give more weight to Primary Care in the Bioregion's programs.
