Dr. Concepció Violán Fors, graduated in Medicine in Barcelona in 1984, received a PhD from the University of Murcia in 1992. She is a specialist in Family and Community Medicine and has a Master in Public Health. After working 4 years as a medical assistant, two years as a public health technician she worked for 15 years in various management positions in the public health system of Spain and Catalonia, Murcia (1989-1991), Madrid (1992-1996) and Barcelona (1996-1999). She began her current work as a researcher and director of the Foundation University Institute for Primary Health Care Research Jordi Gol y Gurina (IDIAPJGol) in 2004.

Her lines of research focus on the search for services. This research area aims to help decision-making process in health care, helping to improve the clinical practice and the functioning of the health system to offer a quality research.

She works in a team with a multidisciplinary group of family doctors, epidemiologists, bio-statisticians, economists, psychologists, nurses, physiotherapists, pharmacists who have been associated to jointly address the evaluation of primary care services. She takes part in GRenSSAP Catalunya group accredited by the Carlos III Health Institute (RD16 / 007/0001) and Generalitat de Catalunya (2014 SGR 1242).

Dr. Violán has extensive experience in the direction of research teams and in the coordination of research projects in her role as director of  IDIAPJGol and as a researcher. She was a member of the Advisory Council of the Continuing Medical Education Training (FMC) magazine from January 1993 to 2010. Currently she is a reviewer of several publications (Grup Biomed Central Public Health) among others and a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Comorbidity.

She was a member of the Board of Directors of the Spanish Society of Family and Community Medicine from 1988 until 1991.

She participated in the scientific committee and organised numerous congresses, conferences and scientific research events.

The main current lines of research are the following: Line 1: Information and registration systems for the improvement of the management and clinical practice of Primary Care based on the information provided by the Information System for the Development of Research in Attention (SIDIAP). Line 2: Epidemiological study of the multimorbidity and comorbidity, in particular the statistical and computer methods for the analysis of multimorbid patterns.

She has an extensive experience in the direction of research teams and the coordination of research projects. She has participated in more than 20 competitive projects, being a principal researcher in 8 projects. She is the author of more than 50 indexed publications.
